Aurora Haskap Plants: The #1 Cultivar

  •  Most Popular Since 2014
  •  Superior Flavour

The University of Saskatchewan introduced Aurora as the ideal pollinizer for Borealis, and since its debut, it has set the standard for commercial haskap cultivation. Aurora has earned its status as one of the most widely planted cultivars worldwide, and it is celebrated for its exceptional commercial attributes, sweeter taste, and higher productivity.

Why Aurora Stands Out:

  1. Exceptional Flavour: Known for its superior taste, Aurora has a sweeter profile due to its lower acidity, making it a favourite among growers and consumers alike.
  2. High Productivity: With significantly higher yields, Aurora produces large, easily harvestable berries averaging 1.9 grams each. This makes it a top choice for both commercial producers and home gardeners.
  3. Disease Resistance: Aurora is highly resistant to common plant diseases, enhancing its appeal as a low-maintenance, high-yield option for those seeking a reliable crop.

Companion Planting for Optimal Growth:

To ensure proper fruit set, Aurora requires an unrelated companion plant. It pairs with Borealis, Indigo Gem, Honeybee, and Boreal Beast. Most growers are planting at a ratio of 2:1, with two Aurora plants for every companion plant. Research conducted in Quebec on various haskap varieties has shown that yields can be significantly higher when companion plants are placed in the same row for pollination purposes. When selecting companions for commercial purposes please feel free to call Curtis to discuss.

Features of Companion Cultivars:

  • Borealis: Known for its exceptional taste and ornamental beauty, Borealis is slightly less productive but remains a favorite for its overall appeal.
  • Honeybee: The best pollenizer for Aurora, ensuring abundant fruit set and excellent crop yields. Superior anthrocyanin content.
  • Boreal Beast: With a 4.5 out of 5 on the flavor scale for three consecutive years, Boreal Beast is celebrated for its superior flavour, best aroma, and improved berry retention.

Pricing & Savings FAQ:

Do I need a coupon code for bulk discounts?

No. Our system is designed to do the math for you. As you add more plants to your cart, the price per plant will automatically drop once you hit the next savings tier.

Can I mix and match varieties to reach a higher tier?

No. The prices points are cultivar specific. We do not offer to mix any individual haskap varieties (Aurora, Borealis, Beast, Beauty, etc.) to reach a volume discount tier.

How do discounts work with Bundles?

Our curated Bundles (like the Family Garden Pack or the Grower Bundle) are already pre-discounted by 10–15%. Because they offer a deeper discount than individual plants, they do not count towards additional tiered pricing, but they represent the absolute best value on the site.
